What is a good method for a first time injector change? A illustration would help guide me I'm going from stock to DD3's

DD3s, what made you go with them? DDs come with instructions with pictures. I know you will love that. Mine came today!

cris,
PM is on the way!!
I decided after talking to DD-Steve. We reasoned the daily driving that I do would better suit the 3's.
Congrats on the new arrivals!!! How long can you look at them without putting them in? Does the instructions say what tools if any are needed? I've heard just a big blade screw driver or small pry bar. Did you think the lug nut idea thru?
Keep the shinny side up!
Happy Holidays!!!!

I think the PVC pipe and a lug nut is the way to go, that way your not prying on anything. I'll do the injectors this weekend if its not going to **** anyone off.

The instructions tell you every tool you will need for each step(no brainer)

I'll let you know what size PVC and how long to cut it.

3/4" pvc 1-3/8" long.
You want the pipe to slip over the injector and cover about half the threads when the other end is touching the head.

You are the man, I knew you would give us the right answer and save me all that work.

Do you use a large washer between the nut and the PVC?

pvc pipe?

I was a little more redneck and used a 1" bolt and a couple of washers. Worked for me.

You can use a washer if you cut the pvc too short otherwise it's not needed. If you have a camera could you take a couple pictures removing an injector and post them here? Worth a thousand words.

Don't quite understand how a 1" bolt would help you.

Cris,

The slow process of picture takig is the idea worth doing. Its lets the next guy doing this for the first time have a better idea on what to expect.

Rattlerattle,
Did the 1" bolt just screw into the top of the injector ? Did you pry it out after that?

Thanks guys,

Wayne

OK guys

I'll take pictures this weekend when I install my DD4s. I went to auto zone and got an injector puller, only .63 cents after tax. After I take the pictures someone will have walk me through how to put them on the site. I'm not good with a computer

Sorry all,

Injector fuel lines off, bolt over injector, a couple of large fender washers and then a lug nut to pull the injector.

Same idea as the pvc pipe but I didn't have any pipe around.

I made a little slide hammer puller out of a metric nut, a 5/8" x 4 bolt threaded into the nut and a big socket. Worked great but I like Bill's method with the pipe better.

I tried the PVC once but didn't have good luck (crushed), I did use a piece of 3/4 conduit about 1 1/2" long and an M14x1.5 pitch nut and it is too easy to get them out.
