idle speed/time
My understanding is that 1200 rpm is the minimum for extended idling.
My high idler is nothing more than a long handled ice scraper wedged in-between the seat and pedal, power seat makes it infinitely adjustable.

1000 to 1200 is a good general rule for extended idle time. It is more for getting oil splash under the pistons and keeping oil flowing, and keeping the coolant up to temp. The carbon issue generally isn't a problem unless you have a worn out eng. that uses oil. The first time you put the eng under full load and run the rpm's out, the carbon usually blows out the tail pipe
sometimes that is spectacular
