i need help with fuel problem

I just traded for a 1997 2500 dodge with a cummins , the guy I got it off of said he drove it home and parked on a hill, the next day tried to start it and it started then quit he did this 3 time then it didn't start at all. I put an electric fuel pump on it and was going to bleed the lines, but I can get fuel to everything but the injectors, fuel come to that block where the fuel lines come out, I bleed both sides of the block but fuel will not come up to the lines I don't know if the electric fuel pump isn't strong enough or there is something i'm doing wrong. If anyone could help me I would be grateful. Thanks

Your eletric pump needs to be pretty stout.

Are you bypassing the stock lift pump?

You need about 20psi at the injector pump.

I'd suggest using the eletric pump as a tool to prime/troubleshoot the fuel system but use the stock lift pump when you get it running.

I just cut the line under cab and put the pump there, i used the pump just to prime and I get fuel everywhere but up to the lines. I traced the lines to know which one to put pump on but if I made a mistake and put it on the return line do you think that would cause that. The truck is not at home and I've not been back to check it . this is my first diesel truck and theirs a lot more to them than I thought, I have work on a lot of coal truck with big cam 3 but this is a little different but I sure thank you for your help

You need to check that the fuel cut solenoid is pulling up all the way on it's own. Hold it up while someone cranks the key.

Fuel will only come out the injector lines with the engine cranking.
