Hay guys I'm new to these diesels an just got a 97 3500 auto. How do i find out what horse power this engine is. Is it told by the VIN#<br> thanks for the help ahead of time Bob

Look on the drivers side of the engine .... see your oil fill tube? Look below there and you'll find the engine tag .... tells you what you need to know about the engine ...

While you are reading the data plate on the engine. Go ahead and write down the CPL # and the Serial# of your engine. This will help the parts guys at Cummins if you ever need anything.

Should be the same as my 97 2500.<br><br>180 HP and 425 lb/ft torque. It is de-tuned because of the automatic.
