hey all got a quick question. I recently stumbled across a 96 12v 4x4 auto with 157k on it and the guy wants 4500 obo for it. Only problem is at a stop it will idle at 1100 to 1200 rpm, he says that he has never really tried to fix it and that he just needs some cash. So my question is what could it be worst case and how easy would it be to fix it.

easy fix. the throttle linkage on the bottom of the pump just needs adjusted. takes a 10mm and an 8mm to do the job

 

Could also be as simple as the linkage needing lubed.

My Auto truck will do this sometimes, especially after it has been setting for a month or two.

 

tell him 3800 as-is, take it home fix the trottle linkage, turn around and sell it for 6K

 

Throttle cable could be streched.
You might get it fixed for as there was a recall.
Go here to check, you will need the VIN Dodge Recalls
Don't go messing with the linkage length, it is set at a certain measurement.
If you change it you will lose full throttle range.
