HELP, pulling injector pump, pulled pump gear so hard bolt broke off in gear
i have the pump ready to pull, all i needed to do was pull the gear using a very nice heavy duty mac gear puller, and after ALOT of tourque and gear not popping off, one of the bolts from the puller broke off in the gear, the nut was on there pretty good but no harder than 150 lbs of tourque so why in the world wont this gear pop off. Now i have to pull the timing gear cover to extract the bolt out of the gear but i still need to get the gear off the pump. ANY tricks on doing this will be a great help as i am getting very frustrated with my 12 valve that i dont even get to drive because all i ever do is work on it!!!!
Are your turning the jack bolt in the puller, or the bolts that screw into the gear?
When I have a gear that gets hard to come off, I put a good amount of pressure on the puller and then smack it with a dead blow hammer. If that doesn't do it, I put more pressure on it and do it again.

thats a great idea with the screw driver, i was putting all the pressure on the jack bolt then tapping it with my ball peen, this puller is putting alot of pressure on the gear, i dont know how anyone could be getting these off with steering wheel pullers?? any other suggestions??

I always tighten the bolts to remove gear, just use a flat washer and screw bolts into gear three turns then snug up center bolt on puller. Tighten equal on each bolt a little at a time until gear pops loose. I wear work gloves because when gear pops loose it will definely hurt your hand on the wrench.
