Help!! Hard starting 95 CTD

I have recently (past month) had trouble starting my 95 CTD.

The symptoms are that the truck has been idle for a day or two and the engine will turn over just fine but no ignition.

When I give it throttle while trying to start it will spin faster, try to fire for awhile and then finally catch, run rough for a few seconds and then settle down.

The truck is bone stock with the exception of a BHAF, e-brake and 4" exhaust.

Any help or suggestions?

[QUOTE=Jus' Plain Bill]I have recently (past month) had trouble starting my 95 CTD.

Any help or suggestions? Bill on the back of the engine there is a couple of hoses that connect the hard fuel lines of the engine to the lines of the fuel tank or the ones that come from the tank. The hoses crack or just go bad and leak the fuel. That is where I would check. I have pressured the lines before and checked for leaks. good luck Jim

Jim is right except that sometimes the rubber lines will suck air without leaking fuel.
If they have never been replaced now's the time. Make sure to use diesel rated hose. A couple feet of 5/16" and 3/8" is what it takes.

Thanks for the help folks. I will pressurize the lines and see what I can find.
