Headgasket made in China
 

Thats right, bought the upper engine gasket set from cummins and the headgasket has made in china stamped on it. Anybody else run across this? I guess I'm going to install it on Monday, what other choice do I have? Mike

well what did you expect ? we vote them stupid lairs, thieves ,and dirt bags in office then they TAX the he-- out of businesses. so, they have everything made out of the country to stay profitable . you will never get a job from a poor man but our imperial leaders think other wise. my .02[verymad]

Two of Cummins' biggest factories are in China and they don't export much from them.
They're were the money is.
Face it, China is taking the US place as an economic superpower.
And it's not because of politicians, it's because Americans have gotten lazy and expect everything handed to them.

Well, im not lazy and I dont want stuff handed to me and I wont by chinese unless it is totally unavoidable. Maybe if we stopped giving in to this presumed fate then it wont actually happen.

I know when I got my Cummins Head gasket last year, it was made in England.

Fel-Pro is a good alternative. Its also made in England, propbably by the same company just re-badged.

I'm not ether nor are most of the people who visit DTR but have you tried hiring anyone lately?
I hire about 20 people each year for summer research farm help.
I'm lucky to get 20 out of 200 that are worth anything if I even get that many to apply.
It's not because I don't pay good and the work isn't all that hard.
Didn't used to be this way even five years ago.
To tell you the truth if there were any Chinese around here I'd hire them...

In the last 6-7 years I've seen the labor issues get much worse too.
Even raises don't help them, for some reason. They want to start as the boss and go from there. Train them, then they need it again tomorrow.

how about Victor Reinz? anybody know where they are made???......................i googled victor and came up with MAHLE Clevite Inc. iv'e bought clevite bearings and victor gaskets before we had trade with china........ so i guess it's not made in china

i am pretty shure victor-reinz and mahle are german, all the products I used said "made in germany", Mind you they were for my volkswagen. and from my experience with them, they are a good gasket, the only reason the second headgasket failed on my vw, was the fact that i pushed 35 pounds of boost into it, without headstuds.

I wouldn't like it either. I don't expect to pass down anything I own made from China, also I've never said " check out this wrench/tool I have, it's made in China, looks like it will last forever doesn't it?" I would pitch it and get one made in Germany, but that is just me.

As far as the labor topic mentioned, I agree, and it is very disheartening, I'm worried for our nation, no leaders, bunch of crooks and liars. I guess one can only do their best and try not to worry about that stuff. It is interesting from a sociological standpoint, about people getting more lazy and expecting to start at the top.

One big problem with Socialism, eventually you run out of other peoples money.

Lets just demonize all the rich and tax them more than everone else. Lets over regulate, and mandate, and allow beurocrats to push up the cost of everything, so they will have no choice but to go to china. To h*ll with incentive. Besides the rich can't create jobs.

RollsCoal- you hit the nail on the head, but dont forget the role of unions- less productivity, more pay. Dont see too many skinny union guys, do ya? And, before you union guys start with your "unions- the ones who gave you the weekend" nonsense, what have unions done for our country or economy in my lifetime (30yrs)? Or my parents' lifetime? (55-60)

I have seen the same thing in recent years concerning labor- all the hay growers around here have gone to round bales, as no one wants to pick up squares anymore. When I was in middle and high school, some buddies and I made $300 each in 3-4 days hauling hay. Got a tan, lost weight, toned up, and had more money than many 8-5ers at the time. We see the same thing in the farrier industry- lots of demand, but it's bloody hard work, and not many want to do it. That's just fine, I'll take Jane Horseowner's money.
