Head gasket problems.....???
Ok so I bought a 95 dodge cummins in november. The thermostat was stuck open so it couldn't warm up to operating temp so I replaced the t-stat and it ran great.
A couple weeks later my head gasket started leaking right under the t-stat housing. I took it in to a reputable diesel shop here in town and they tore it down and re-surfaced my head, checked for cracks, and put everything back together. So here I am about 1500 miles later and my head gasket starts leaking near the back of the head on the passenger side. I can see it bubbling out when it s running. I take it to the shop because they have year or two warranty and they tear it down and they say that I "might have too much drive pressure" so I m blowing head gaskets. It's a 95 12v, with a #10 fuel plate, stock HX-35 turbo, stock injectors, 4" straight pipe exhaust and an intake. I blocked off my waste gate and I can only make 35lbs of boost at max. Everyone I ve talked to and everything I ve read says that I shouldn't have more drive pressure than boost but the shop seems to think different. And they actually told me that I would be fine running that set-up and he s seen tons of guys running the same thing, even more on stock head gaskets. So my question is should they warranty it and is drive pressure my problem? |
