Well grinding your fuel plate to a 0 or 100 plate, sliding it and your AFC slightly forward of stock, and bumping the timing will make it a whole new animal... I would also look into a 3k rpm governor spring kit or search the Governor spring washer mod... all that will wake it up pretty good and keep your trans in decent shape. With that when your trans finally does go a simple rebuild, single disc billet converter and VB or shift kit would keep it happy.
