I would get the front axle off the ground and check for slop in the front end, sure the motor will go for ever but ball joints won't. while it is up check the U joints as well, little things but they all add up and end up costing you more money, money you won't have for mods instead you'll be stuck fixing it back to stock condition. check for signs of frequent or the lack of maintenance, if all the fill plugs look real neat it hasn't been taken care of well.

Also ask to see
if the KDP has been done, if they say the what? or ask, chances are that it has not been taken care of. The mileage for that truck is nothing. These cummins engines can go 500K between overhauls if well taken care of. My truck has 170K and runs better than a new truck. DaveLx88 bought his with nearly 300K on it and its a solid running truck! I have a friend with 365K on his stock 12 valve and it still rattles right along. NO issues on it whatsoever... dont let the mileage discourage you on these trucks...

i just bought a '96 2500 4wd auto, with 255,000 miles on it. i had to fix the fuel gauge, kill the kdp, change all filters and lubes. went with synth in the trans., and it needed a track bar. all minimal ivestments in a good truck. i paid $4500 for it, great deal i thought.
