96 12v full size bed, extended cab, stock manual trans. How do I know what my final gearing is on this truck? At 2000rpm i am going 67 mph with stock sized tires. Cant read the sticker anymore under the hood. Thanks for the help!

I think you have to jack the rear axle up and count the # of turns the wheel takes to turn the drive shaft once. Could be wrong though. Good luck.

There very possibly will be a tag or stamp on the front or rear axle. If you jack up the rear and count the turns, you need to divide the number by 2 to get the ratio- one wheel off the ground turns twice as fast as if both wheels turn at the same rate, which is what it does when driving straight.

On my '95 there is a sticker on the inside of the hood, right above the radiator that give information about the truck, including the rear-end ratio.

In my truck, with LT245-75 R16 tires, 2,000 rpm the speedo reads 74 mph, but I have been thinking that's a little high.

There should be a tag bolted on the right side of the diff cover stating ratio. If not you could always drop the cover and count teeth for an exact number. The ratios usually stamped into the ring as well. If its like my truck the gear oil probably needs to be changed anyways

Autos have a OD of 0.69:1, NV4500's are 0.76:1, so your speed sounds about right.

OP, based on your speed and rpm, you should have 3.55's, like what was already mentioned previously.

I agree. My 1997 2500 4x4 with the NV4500 manual with 265/75/R16 tires sits at about 1800 RPM at 60 MPH.
