Fuel plate
 

Still learning. Wheres the fuel plate located and is it easy to move forward. ???Seems this is a easy way to get some more HP on my 97 ctd.

A good place to see it is at www.TSTproducts.com

look for instructions for changing the fuel plate, except you aren't replacing...just sliding. Once you see pictues of it it's a piece of cake. Hard to describe it in text. You're where I started at about a year ago. [eyecrazy]I STILL NEED MORE!!! [eyecrazy]

I know this is an old thread, but I just found out that I have a 12v (rather than a 24v). How much HP/torque does moving the plate forward provide??? Ive heard that it is better to just buy a new plate. Why is that???

GreyBoy, you probably arent going to get a whole lot of HP out of sliding your plate - possibly 20-30....

Tuff, get a Southbend.....the stock clutch just doesnt cut it....especially if you are looking to add HP....

it is usualy advisable, that if you are going to start to play with horse power up-grades, that gauges are a must, so you can see where your EGT is at all times. i might have over looked whether or not that you had gauges, if you do sorry.

what nivram said is DEFINATE!!

I moved my stock plate forward, and notice a big difference. Only 20-30!! Thats quite a bit for such little work, considering you would spend almost a grand to get that out of a 24valve.

How bout grinding the stock plate to a #10??? Can it lead to any problems if done wrong??? Will it differ in hp compared to a TST??? Sorry if thats a stupid question.

You can grind it to anything you want as long as your tranny can hold it.

Yeah what Jim said, I like my #10 tst,it is remarkable what change it made,looking at my factory one, I do not think I would attempt to duplicate as if a guy gets a different truck he might want to put the stock back in and take his tst with him to his new truck, and I might add to install the 3gsk springs,gauges and retime, Don't you think that is right Jim??
