There others ways you will hear about here but the biggest one I know of from your discription is your gear ratio , 3.55s would be the other option for stock the 4.10s for pulling these trucks do not seem to need it except at the extream end.

You should register- its free - donations-then fill out the signiture with truck details then it will be easyer for everybody to help.

i put a set of 285 on my dually to gear it up a bit, i used a 2 inch spacer for the rear. and if that truck doesn't have any gauges, get some. and bet you coudl pick up a bit with the timing bumped up in the 16 to 17 range. and make sure your filters are clean.

i like the bhaf, just do a search. and to set the timing you need the right tools and someone familiar with it. you need a pyro and a boost gauge. mike

Maybe back of the plate a little, detune the starwheel (less preboost fuel), get it to breath a little better and bump the timing up. While all that power and smoke is fun, you can back er off a tad, get some better mileage, and still have a very respectable truck.

Probably the most important factor is the foot. Good luck, Kevin

Exactly, that black smoke you see coming out the back is nothing more than unburnt fuel and lower mpgs...
