front driveshaft u joint replacement question

Today I tried to pop in a new u joint, Tried to do it with the driveshaft on the truck but that didn’t work, looks like the stocker still in there so i removed the drive line- first question, are there c clips holding the caps in? I can’t seem to find any- I tried pounding the caps out but no movement. Second question, the doubble u joints by the t-case also feel dry, but again no greese zerks on them (but they have c clips) should I pop the caps out and greese em with my water proof molly dirtbike greese?

The front may have clips on the inside, as for t case side, I just r &r mine with new greasable joints, the joints are cheap so that was easier.

The clips are on the inside. Don't take the cardan joint apart if you're not familiar with reassembling it, they can be a pain. Are you sure there's no grease zerk? I know mine has one, just greased it the other day.

My stock on did not have a zerk, The cardan joint it not bad except there are needs in the center ball which are a pan to get all lined up. I just installed new joints on my front shaft this weekend.

Found the clips under all the rust, the diff side u joint came out and new one went in easy, so i looked at the cardan joint and it did not move easy and squeeked like crazy- so i removed all the clips bought new joints and the $55 ball- I removed the t-case side and the ball fall out with dry berrings all over the place... so then I started to remove the other ones, trouble- broke the vice in half. is there an easyier way to remove them? I was placeing a 17mm socket on one cap and a 2" deep socket Over the other cap- then crank the vice and the caps pop right out.... but cranking sometimes involoves a braker bar, and snap my harbor freight vice pop'ed in half.
SO with the vice dead, my friend said he used his log splitter on his and the same trick with sockets- good or bad idea?
Oh, and these cardan joint yokes are balanced right?? no need to keep them lined up?

Cardin joint balance/indexed

From what I have read, the cardin joint is indexed and need to be installed lined up to where it came out.

Log splitters can be an effective press! So much easier than a hammer. Just go slow and easy. Put a little piece of steel over the socket to keep from damaging it, or use a sacrificial socket.

Log splitter Worked great, poped them right out- didnt even run the splitter above idle. The rubber dust seal didnt make it as the U joint moved over and killed it, napa dosent have a part number on file. anyone know where to get the large rubber dust seal that is fitted inside the H yoke?

no auto parts store had them, they refered me to a local semi truck axle rebuilder. I set it on the counter, he walked in the back and grabbed one. Very common part on F series and dodge trucks
