Front axle U joints.

Ive done a few old style Dana 60s and its fairly easy. After the wheel and caliper is off whats next on a 95 4x4 2500. Will I need any special tools for the wheel bearing removal? I havent got a clue on these new trucks.

I did mine a few months ago. There is a bunch of info on this site if you search for it but here is a brief rundown. I have 4 wheel ABS on my '96 (apparently very few had this) so I had to be careful not to hit the abs ring when pressing the bearings/hubs out of the knuckle. I backed the 14mm 12 point bolts out of the hubs most of the way and then I took a 14mm 12pt deep 3/8" socket and a short (maybe 1") extension put them on one of the 14mm hub bolts and positioned it so that when I turned the steering wheel it pushed the extension/socket up against the steering stop and that in turn pushed the hub out. I just did two of the bolts that were diaganol from each other and without starting the truck (i.e. no power steering) it just took a good yank on each of the two bolts to push the hub out. It was definitely harder to hammer the u-joints out than it was to get the hubs out. I wish I'd have taken pics of it for a how-to. BTW personally I went with a set of greasable joints even though a lot of guys here prefer the sealed ones for strength. I look at it this way, I only put power through those joints in the snow/occasional off road trip, I am not going to be stepping too hard on the gas in either of those situations and I won't be doing any sled pulling so I went with something that I can grease and will hopefully get more than the 50K I got out of the sealed stockers.

be careful, i had a local mechanic do mine in july and he busted the diff seals on both sides and it was leaking oil like crazy. i came out the next day to go to work and found all this oil in my driveway and my kdp acted up. later on the mechanic refused to fix it.

DO NOT TAKE THE SPINDLE NUT OFF WHILE YOU'RE GETTING THE HUBS OFF!!!

Break the nut loose and then tighten it back up nice and snug (about 30 to 40 ft. lbs). This will keep the wheel bearing from separating when you break the hubs loose. Then pound or press the hub off either by hammering on the bolts or pressing it out with the power steering. Do a search there is plenty of great information. Be prepared to cuss, on mine it didn't seem like the hubs were ever going to comeoff, but you can be rough with it
