Fan Clutch Bad?

I finally got around to replacing the water pump. With it off the engine the bad bearings were very evident when I'd spin the pulley by hand. That water pump was 2 years old.
I have a theory that rebuilt NAPA water pumps, even if rebuilt in MayHeeCo are better than brand new ones imported from China so I got a rebuilt NAPA and put it on. After I tightened it down I couldn't rotate the pulley. So I pulled it off, took it to NAPA, replaced it and got another one. Slapped that one on and SO FAR... the problem has gone away.
I had a bit of a scare... right after I got the serp belt back on and got the radiator filled I got into the cab and started the engine and DAMM I heard a slap slap slap squeal squeal squeal. Man alive I was bummed out, but I got out raised the hood, and I'd left my breaker bar inserted into the idler pulley bracket and the handle was lying across the fan clutch. Ha! Pulled it off and started it up and drove it 15 miles and no noise. So I guess I fixed it.
