Fan Belts
I'm in the process of finishing up a cummins swap into a 2002 Chevy using a 1997 Cummins out of a Dodge, now Ive used an alternator from a 1992 Dodge cummins as the original was needing a rebuild and just had it laying around. I'm in need of a NON A/C belt for the engine, Now my question to you fine gents. Why would there be a difference between the 1st and 2nd gen Non A/C belt lengths? 1st gen (64.375") vs 2nd gen (65.922). From everything I can tell they share every rotating part assembly Alternator,Water pump, Tensioner ect. . . Is the fan clutch pulley different? I've searched all over for this and simply can't find an answer. Thanks in advance.

As far as I recall it the difference in the belt length was in a bracket.. But even the wrong combination of parts worked.
A rough estimate would be to install the belt and check for the possible movement of the tensioner- as long as you are close to the center of the useful travel you should be good.
Sorry, this was for the industrial version...

I answered this question in the 1st gen forum, as you posted the same question there.
The short answer is the difference is in the fan hub and pulley location from the '91.5-'93 to the '94-'98.0 trucks make the difference in the belt length.
