Factory Service Manual vs. CD
After looking at a buddies FSM for a different vehicle I have decided it is a must have for my truck. Way more detailed than the Haynes!
When looking on Techauthority the CD version is $30 more than the paper manual. I would have though that the CD version would have been cheaper as there is no printing costs.
Is there anything more included in the CD version that would make it worth the extra $30?
Thanks

Well I think that answer depends on what you are using it for. If you are using more so for research or finding data then I'd go with a CD as generally they can be searched. However if you are using it for a shop manual and are going step by step then without a doubt get the paper version. The CD FSM gets a bit annoying in the middle of a job if I need to find a clearance or torque as I have to clean up, go inside, and turn on the computer just to look it up.

35 bucks and it is licensed just like the TA version.
BTW, I have both printed and CD. I keep the printed at home, and have the CD file downloaded to a zip stick I keep with me, both on my cell phone and in the truck. That way if I am down on the road, all I need is some form of computer with a USB port..........

I too have the cd version from genos and absolutely love it. Certainly the best service manual ive ever bought. Plus you can get a free cummins C sticker from genos! Or at least you could when I got mine.

I've used both and although the paper and CD versions both have the same info vastly I prefer the paper.
The way the FSM works is it often refers you all over the place in the book when doing most any repair.
I find it easier to flip pages in the shop than mess around with a computer.
Check both www.techauthority.com and http://www.genosgarage.com/products.asp?dept=241 for prices, on some years one is way cheaper than the other.
