Factory cam plate setting??
 

How would or could a person tell if the aftermarket fuel cam plate that is currently installed in a 7100 pump is or isn't in the stock factory position??

I am in the process of installing a new HPDR-HX35W turbo, 215 injectors and a new cam plate. My concern is that #5 plate that is in there has been relocated from the stock position. If I remember correctly, the guide and the plate can be slid forward and backward.

Any opinions or prior experience lurking out there?

But depending on the truck, and pump, the plate position tends to vary. I learned this myself when on my friends 97 215 pumped truck with 368K miles, i decided to pull off the AFC, only to see that the plate was about 90 percent forward. I have also seen it on a couple of smaller pumped trucks, at about center position. There really is no way for me to say where they should go, because ive pulled plates on about 6 different 12V trucks, includin my own, and they were all in different positions.

You can set the AFC forward as well as the plate for increased fueling, and the starwheel can be used as the fine adjust for smoke, for lack of a better term. So you are on the right track.. I noticed since u want to install 215 injectors, u have an auto trans truck, eitherways u cannot go wrong. I hope taht this helps...

All engines are different as far as the stock position.
This is the reason most aftermarket plate instructions say to scratch a mark to locate the stock position before removing the stock plate.
I've seen a couple where the stock position was all the way forward though most tend to be about in the middle.

When I removed mine it was set almost exactly in the center.
