water pump...Cummins or Gates?

The water pump on my '96 is leaking. Looked at pumps on Geno's and they recommend Gates or Cummins. The Cummins is more expensive, but I don't want to be doing this again in a couple of years. Is the Gates pump any good?

I put a gates on once a year. Once a year they start leaking. What I have learned to deal with.

I put a Gates on my 91.5. No problems for 8 years. Truck was destroyed in a wreck so I have no idea how long it would have lasted. Put one on my 01 about 5 yeas ago, no problems yet. They are not that hard to change once you figure out how to get them through the fan.

The shop I use has had great luck with the Murray pumps.
O'Reilly carries them.

When the pump went out on my 01 (at around 300k) I used a Gates from Genos. It was still on there and working fine when I got rid of it at 350k miles.

I recently ordered two Gates pumps from rockauto. Only ~$40CDN.

Pump, rad, hoses, etc. all being renewed this week.
