Engine Start after Sitting Long Periods

I have a fuel pump kill switch on my diesel boat that allows me to spin the engine slowly (not firing) after a long period of inactivity. I expect to leave my CTD sitting for months at a time in the future. How can I start it after such a long down time without doing damage to the engine bearings? Thanks.

What year is your truck?

You could do the same with the fuel shut off solenoid. Hook up a switch that keeps it off even when it is supposed to be on (when you turn the key on to the first click), then crank the engine for a few seconds, turn the new switch back on and your good to go.

Not sure it would really be a problem, if you run synthetic before the long sitting period, I would think you would be all set. Lots of vehicles sit for long periods of time, and I don't recall anything special being done??? I'm sure it is done, but how much benifit do you really get?

There are also pre-oilers out on the market, and I have read about homemade versions as well. Might want to look into that as well.
