engine out, need some advice
Well I decided to yank the engine instead of the transmission (broken flex plate) because how much of a pain it is to change the headgasket and because it leaks oil everywhere.
The engine itself has 180k on it, is there any seals I should replace just because its out (like rear crank seal) or just leave stuff alone. I think I am getting a leak from either the injection pump or timing pin or even possibly the pushrod cover (do these ever leak?)
Anything advice on things I should freshen up would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Josh

With 180K on it, I would personally reseal everything I could. Rear main for sure. Gear cover and seal, you bet. Pushrod cover- not usually a problem area, nor is the oil pan common. Might be worth pulling the inj. pump to change the o-ring, and pulling the vacuum pump to reseal it. With the hours of agony involved removing the engine, you might as well do everything you can. Clean her up and repaint as well. Might as well have it looking new.
Making it look new is the plan. Vacuum pump is off already, pan is comming off for turbo drain mods and injection pump might be comming off for a better one if I can find some cash. I have just always had a leak around the timing pin or pump area that I couldnt find with the engine in the truck. Might be behind the gear case but not too sure and really dont want to pull the cam.
