Dyno tuning in WI
Dyno tuning in WI?
I'm in south eastern WI. I'm wondering if there is anywere close that does dyno tuning. I talked with the service guy at Cummins and he said that they can run it on the Dyno for $150 but they will only adjust things within factory specs.
Is this expensive?
Before anyone suggests it I will not go to Huckstorfs as I have been spending the last Two years trying to fix everything they screwed up. Any help would be appreciated. Is there any DTR chapters in my area?

I ran across a thread a couple years ago, about someone looking to start a DTR chapter in this area, buy no one responded. If you reference the chapter map, you'll see there is no chapter in our area.
As for Dyno's...I am only aware of a great conflict on this site, with regards to the two types of dynos...and one being better then the other.
A quick way of doing your own dyno, is to take a trip down to the drag strip, make a few runs, and you are able to calculate your specs. One is an ET method:
horsepower = weight / ((ET/5.825)x(ET/5.825)x(ET/5.825))
The other method is the Trap Speed Method:
horsepower = weight x ((rpm/234)x(rpm/234)x(rpm/234)
Once you know your horsepower, then just calculate your torque:
Torque = (5252xhorsepower) / rpm
There are plenty of sites on the net, that will calculate this for you...just do a search for "horsepower ET method calculation"
As for Huckstorfs...no experience with them. The 12V is such a simple engine, I only rely on the DTR members, and my own work.
Do let me know if you run across a Dyno in the area...would be fun to try.

Contact Aron at Amusement Ride Diesel Performance 608 304-0399
There's a gathering North of Minneapolis on the 22nd of October. I know it's a drive from Milwaukee (if that's where you're at) but it's all interstate and the truck should be warmed up by then. Aron from Amusement Ride Diesel may be there. Check the link in National/State chapter forum for details. They run the truck for you. Aron said that with their dyno experience they can squeeze the numbers out better than we could. He's a straight forward guy so I'm very inclined to believe him.
Thats a whole lost closer then going to Mini. I talked with the service rep at Cummins in Milwaukee and he said "unoffically" that they may be able to give me a few tuning pointers once they run it on the dyno. I'm hoping I can talk them into an hour of dyno time since it's going to cost $150. Then I can hopefully get it tweeked in and squeeze everything possible out of the mods I have.
Not sure how far Schofield is from you, but K&S fuel has a dyno.

Got my directions reversed. For some reason I was thinking Madison not Milwaukee.
Kennedy Diesel in Loyal (central WI) used to advertise a superflo dyno. I don't see it listed on their website though.

I dynoed there for the Dyno day in June. They didn't use the RPM for that run but rather tire speed to save time as they had 50+ trucks show up.
I believe they charge ~$75.. but I'm not sure.
