Clutch master cylinder rod keeps bending

Ok so I put a 24v pre bled master and slave on my 91 first gen with a getrag 5 speed in. I made a different bracket to go under the dash to accommodate the two bolt hole style master instead of the keyed master. After about 3 trips to town I bend the rod from the petal to the master everything is setup the same way as it is on my 24v but I just keep bending this stupid rod I have welded it back together 3 times and once cut a half inch out because I thought I was bottoming it and bending it but that wasn’t the issue. I’m really getting sick of taking the whole assembly out and straightening it any suggestions from guys that have done this before ? I’m sacred to even drive it anymore because what it that happened to me at a redlight and I couldn’t pop it outta gear...

My only thought is the angle to which the pressure is applied is somehow wrong...Other than that, I'm clueless......Ben

What do you mean buy the angle as in maybe I need to washer the front up streight or something thing like that?

It’s hard to get a good picture of the bend but she’s really bent

The cab was off of an 84 w100 so I had to cut and drill all new holes for this stuff could it be I’m off in my placement I made a cardboard template off of what was left of the old cab which was **** near right on but sometimes my head isn’t on streight ether[duhhh]

Could it maybe be that my slave cylinderrod is too long? I’m getting a new one from rock auto as this one was lifetime warranty but still I’d like it to not bend my next one

Maybe the swivel on the pedal is binding a bit and bending the rod?

The master looks like it is mounted too high on the firewall in that picture. The hole should be more in line with the wiring bulkhead.

Also like AlpineRAM said is the bolt on the pedal cranked down too tight making the pivot point bind?

Possibly I have it pretty tight and I’ll move that down and see what happens

That is the reason from the factory it is on a pivot pin with a clip not a bolt that can be over tightened and make it so it with not rotate freely.

Today I slotted my bracket and moved it down and slightly ahead as well as listened my bolt on the petal and so far so good

Had a bolt in when I brought it home so I didn’t think anything of it
