Clunk when going into gear
Why does my 95 auto clunk when going into gear. I was doing a bunch of plowing the other day, and whenever I would change gears it would give a pretty good clunk.
Thanks John |
Might be a bad u-joint.
Crawl underneigth and twist the drive shaft looking for slop. |
I had a friend whos truck was doin that too. Like infidel said it was the u joint, when he took it off it was cracked and was almost into tw0 pieces just waiting to let go. so that would be my best bet why u have a clunking noise.

I gotta agree with a U-joint. Don't forget to check the front drive shaft as well as the rear. Thats where the "clunk" came from on mine.
|
Well, I checked the U joints and they are all good. Any other suggestions.

Rear end may be going out/wore. I dont have much good to say about Dana 70's anymore...
