cam plate how turned up is this truck?

My buddy bought a 96 1 ton dually 4x4 with the pump turned up, the truck has good power. We pulled the cam plate to see how turned up it was and theres nothing on the bottom of the plate, it looks like they grinded off the rivets holding the bottom part that contacts the lever. So what does this mean, do we need to change this or whats next to turn it up some more? Its all the way forward right now.

So the plate thats in it right now is just the top part, number 1 in this pic, and the number 2 part is gone? If so, i think people recommend not doing that because a certain pin can break from the arm not contacting the plate and can cause alot of pump damage. a 0 Plate is just as good.

Thanks! Yes the #2 part of the picture is gone! We adjusted the star wheel alittle and the truck will really get up and run! How would we know if there is any damage already done to the pump?

From what I here from people running no plate at all wich is basiclly what you were doing, the arm inside the fuel pump can swing all the way formard and hit the inside wall of the AFC housing. I would look for fuel leaks and cracks. But get a new plate as soon as possible. You don't want to replace a pump $$$$$.

When i bought my 12v there was no plate in it either. It made a lot of smoke but not that great of power. I would get a good plate, adjust the govner arm and make sure the AFC is hooked up.
