bypass filter
 
i'm swapping my truck to amsoil oil and was told that it wasn't worth it without a bypass filter or dual filter setup. what is it and where do i get one? thanks alot for your help

that is the kit i was looking at. the middle single spin on element one. holds 1.5 extra quarts.

I have a single Amsoil unit and like it a lot.

Oilguard makes a great system too.

How clean does this keep the oil versus the stock filter only? Im also looking into switching to synthetics but the oil gets loaded up so quickly that yes its not worthwhile unless you have some way to filter it out. Not sure how long of an interval you can reach with this setup. Anyone using one that knows?

The by pass filters out all particles large enough to cause wear- this is down to about 1 micron or so.

Think of whats left as golf balls floating in a big tub. They are there but are so small they do not cause wear. ( the tub sides represent the clearance between moving parts in your engine)


Your stock filter quits at about 25-30 microns. Quite a difference.

Do a search, there is quite a bit about by pass systems, change intervals etc,. to be found there.
