Boot on the charge cooler ?

I would have called it an intercooler but was corrected by someone.
Anyway the rubber boot at the bottom on the passengers side has issues.
Its starting to collapse and delaminate. Truck is a 1997.
I would think this should be replaced as soon as possible.
Planning on buying this truck provided it will pass a 2 year vehicle inspection here. (Nova Scotia).
Has 18 months left on its current inspection, but I feel its a good idea to pay for the inspection and then you will know if some of the expensive parts are up to the job.
Truck was original US model and has zero rust.
I don't mind doing work to service it but rust is just bad all together.
I have read hundreds of threads here and they have helped me to decide on this one.
I must say thank you to the people who built this place.
regards Chris

Yep, I would change it, they aren't too expensive, kind of a pain to change, just make sure you tighten the clamps well, they can blow off under boost.

Is the truck Auto/Manual, 2WD/4WD?

I personally love the 97's the best, almost no electronics and pretty bulletproof.

If the KDP hasn't been done, DO IT IMMEDIATELY! 97's seem to bite owners the most.

Truck is auto ,club cab and long box.
A few power accessories.
Checked the front cover and found evidence of newer silicone (blue).
I will go in and make sure it was repaired right.
Truck appears pretty good to me and tranny shifts right now and a solid truck to drive.
Unusual to me is it seems to turn sharper than my o4 dakota club cab short box 4x4.
Has the 4 inch stainless exhaust without a muffler. Will be putting one on if i can get one to fit.
Love the engine but I have grown to old for the raspy exhaust drone.
The wife is not so impressed...she loves the blue oval stuff and has her own 08 f150 4x4.
This time tommorow it should be mine.
regards Chris

Here is one source for aftermarket boots and clamps. They are thicker than stock and last longer with better clamps. While replacing the pass. side lower, make sure the fender structure next to the boot is bent away from the new boot. As the boot expands it rubs on the fender material edge and can cut it. I just bent mine down out of the way.

Trick that keeps the boots from blowing off and makes them easier to install is to spray the inside of the rubber that slips over with cheap hairspray.
Sets up like glue but not so bad that you can't remove later.
I bought mine from PDR also. They ship from both the US and Canada, makes it cheaper for you northerners.

That is one of the really cool things, they do turn a very tight radius, especially for such a whale of a truck.

Sounds like you have been smitten, these things grow on you like a fine dog........

Today was not so good. I called the servce center to tell them whats coming in. They said they would check it out no problem even though they are very busy.
Waited all day for a phone call from the owner.
Grrrr nothing. I have no idea what he is up to but selling a truck isn't any part of it.
Bad part is I am going on vacation next week and would really have liked to use that truck to move some exuipment around.
I will keep you posted.
Regards Chris
