Batteries going down and truck wont start

Put in two new batteries and truck sat for a week, went to crank truck and it wouldnt start. Turned slow and then wouldnt crank at all. Truck started fine the day I put the new batteries in. I am thinking that it is either the battery cables or the starter that has gone bad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Check the battery voltages. Sounds more like something has drawn them down.

Battery voltage is a little above 12V.

Batteries should be 12.75 and need to be unhooked from each other for a true reading. If good, start with cable cleaning and retighten then on to starter.

sounds like a draw for sure, check areas that are effected by road grime, I found my draw being the trailer charge line in the RV connecter on the bumper- it was all rusted up by the ice melt stuff the poor on the roads

Only true way to test a battery is with a load test. Meter won't tell you much. Autozone ,or the like, should be able to load test.
