auto tranny reccomendation
i have a 97 ctd with 60,000 miles on it and i had some expierenced friends put a #6 fuel plate in for me and the power is amazing! however right around 20lbs of boost my tranny slips (ive only done it 2 or 3 times) so i try to keep it below 15lbs which is still way more power than wut i had b4. this spring im gonna put a torque converter in and do somethin with the tranny. any recommendations on wether i should up the line pressure with a valve body on the stock tranny or get a whole new tranny? im a college student so money is tight.
THANKS!

Goerand brothers is the cheaper of the 2 and is what I went with. to date I've been very satisfied with my purchase.
You might get away with just purchasing a better torque converter. Maybe someone else will chime in on that theory.
call Dave @ Goerend Brothers.... you tell him what you are going to do with the truck and he'll tell you what you need..... not what he wants to sell you.... www.goerend.com and yes there's a pic of my truck on that main page.... Benjamin
I use a #8 plate and it quickly trashed the OEM tranny. I had a complete transmission built by Fred at Allstar Automotive in Denver. I also got the dual disk TC from them. Fred was with ATS, he knows what he's doing. Their prices are VERY reasonable. They guarenteed my trans to 1500 ft lbs of torque. So far, I've been very pleased with the transmission.
PM sent... Should you be mechanically inclined or have friends that are, you can save yourself quite a bit of money. One, you don't have to pay their labor and two you don't have to pay freight on a 150+ lbs transmission...
