It's time to do something about my trans before it just gives out compleaty. I've decided I want to put a 6 speed in so I've been doing some search's on here and I know the first thing I need is a doner truck, can it be a gas truck? or can it be a 98-02 or dose it need to be a 96-97? Next for the transfer case will the one i have work or will i need to use one from the doner also dose it matter as far as 5 speed or 6 speed for the case? When i'm done I want ever thing to work so I need to do it right. Please tell the best way to go about this.

There are tons of posts on this topic- have you done a search? Someone will answer you, but you can get much more information if you search for it.
One thing- you will spend a lot of money. You can most likely put a well built, take-any-punishment automatic back in your truck (Like a Goerand or ATS, etc.), for a decent amount less than putting a 6 speed in it. Unless you come across a cheap donor, of course. Just a thought. I have considered putting a manual in my truck, but I will probably built the auto instead.
