Auto/manual engine difference?

What exactly is different between the auto and manual trucks that give '96-'98 manual trucks 20 ft-lb. more torque? I'm sure its just a small thing, like fuel plate profile or adjustment, but I was just curious which adjustment or part was different.

Different injector pump. Yours should have a 180 pump not the 215. Injectors may also be different.

the funny thing is how well a set of 215 injectors wake up any of the sub 200 hp motors. like to the tune of 40 rwhp.

The turbos are different,
215 engines take its wastegate pressure from across the engine on the afc housing
180 engines take it at the turbo outlet flange.

the turbos are really the same, just the wastegate is set at a lower pressure on smaller hp motors. 215s usally boost 24 to 25 psi stock.

How come when you add the stuff the 215 has to the 180 it gains more then the 35hp between the two? Like the bigger sticks and DVs dont you add closer to 50hp? Was the 215 under rated?
