Anyone out there ever rebuild a p/pump? Is there any overhall info on it? Just a standard rebuild no drag pumps or anything radical.

Unless you have the tools and a bench on which to set the lead, do not try to rebuild one of these yourself. Mechanically they are quite simple, but they do take some expensive tools and a way to spin the pump up so you can set the initial fueling lead properly without blowing diesel into your skin from the high pressures.

You would be money ahead to just take one to a good shop and tell them what you want. I would expect to spend less than $800 for a total rebuild if there were actually something worn out, and around $600 for a performance tune and some delivery valve changes if nothing is really worn. These guys were $300, plus parts for a rebuild: http://www.adiesel.com/

A good test bench alone costs over $15 grand, the tools a few hundred more, and if you blow the diesel under your skin during the spin test you better have good life insurance.

RCW well said, if there are no local Bosch rebuilders, there are several in the U.S. and Canada.

Exploded view, OUCH!
I've looked around the web a little and couldn't find anything like that or even a parts listing. Good Luck!

There aren't any diagrams on the web, if you want one you have to buy a book from Bosch that has dozens of different diagrams, no p/n only names. The book is called Diesel In-Line Fuel-Injection Pumps, costs about $25.
To get the good diagrams with part numbers you have be a Bosch certified shop.

what are you looking to do to the pump? they generally don't wear out? i guess like anything they will eventually, but it shouldn't be worn out yet. i have never rebuilt one before, but i have one all taken apart right now with intentions to put it back together with a few of "custom" fueling mods done to it. like wide open. tell me more if you think i can help you with something. and the diesel under the skin is no joke. it will kick your *** if not kill ya. i know i swallowed an ounce or so of diesel one time and i was pukin with the worst hangover anyone has ever had for 3 whole days. and the burps... they tasted aweful for a week. i'm still here tho. i dunno what it would do direct-injected into the skin.

I had to siphon our tractor once because water got in our tank and we didn't know until the tractor stopped running. It didn't taste very good at all!

Lightbulb

i had a transfer pump in the bed of my truck and when it would get low, the only way to prime it was to turn it on, pull the trigger, and suck on the end of the hose. boy! when you heard that pump grab some fuel you had better be quick! i was a little too late one time. it was the last time i ever done that. i replaced the check valve in the pump and put some silicon on the intake pipe and it worked fine till you ran it dry!

Just for the record, you are asking a guy a question about something he posted almost 15 years ago. He also has not been on DTR since 2012. I doubt he is going to answer...

Try starting a new thread and include as much info. as you can so people know what you are working on and what you have done already.
