Air to Air cooler ???????
An air to air intercooler (or is it technically an aftercooler?) is a device to cool down the air coming out of your turbo before it enters the engine. It's mounted up by the radiator. You can follow the tubing from the turbo to it, and then from it to the intake horn. I have no idea if it's recommended to clean them, but if the truck runs like it always has, has good power, and no excessive smoke, then I'd assume it's fine. I'll let some more knowledgeable people chime in, but thats my opinion.

The local radiator shop said they could clean it out for me. I'll get a price first.

oil residue
The mechanic said that small amounts of oil are sucked into the cooler and build up a residue inside the coils. That is what needs cleaned because it restricts air flow. Any truth to this?
