Acting like running out of fuel

I have a brand new lift pump re did all my fuel lines from tank to pump bypassed fuel heater it will run for a bit then like runs out of fuel also lots of white smoke. Seems to just run off of pressure from manual prime took fuel line off and tried pulling out of container and same thing but when I crank over the lift pump doesnt seem to pull on it's own. Is it maybe a bad injector?

Since you bypassed the fuel preheater and replaced the lift pump, that rubber elbow hose that goes from the prefilter housing to the lift pump seems a likely suspect for an air leak.

A bad injector should cause a noticeable miss, but I don't think it would create a lot of white smoke - if anything, black smoke from poorly atomized and unburned fuel.

I'd look into the fuel return system from the injectors. An injector can leak combustion gas into the return and make the pump lose prime.
Also the washers and banjos of the return system can cause you grief there.

Fuel Return Valve Spring

My 94 acted like it was running out of fuel and would quit running. Traced to the spring being weak in the fuel return valve. I physically stretched the original spring and reinstalled into the valve to keep the truck on the road while waiting on my replacement spring.

If it was fine before you messed with it, look at what yo did and don't waste you time on what you didn't. Yes, you could have gotten a bad pump. any fuel line you messed with could introduce air. And why do people remove the fuel heater?!?
