Hey, just wondering if the 96-98 12 valves have an obd2 port? im looking to do a 12 valve conversion and need an obd2 port that does systems ready checks and has a check engine light. Do the 96-98 12 valves do this?

Nope, all 12Valves are purely mechanical.

The truck does have an OBD2 port, but it is only for other things, Trans, etc.

Yes the 96 does have a check engine light, There are codes it can trip, but the computer dont run much other than the transmission, the charging system, and a few other minor things.

You need to verify the legality of the swap with your state, I would almost bet there is no way to legally register it, at least in most states I know of.

( Assuming you even have emission testing )

Its not a smog legal swap, so dont bother if you need to pass smog.

I wouldn't bother swapping a diesel into a 99 1500, but thats just me.
