95 12 valve expierience needed.

Might be picking up a pretty clean 95 12 valve duelly, 4x4. It's got around 200k miles and has been hauling horses around its whole life. Owned by an older gentleman. I've got to get rid of the ugly visor and fix a cracked windshield but other than that she seemed to be in good shape. What are some little things I need to look for. He said the auto was redone about 50k miles ago and that he's got paperwork. Any help would be appreciated.

Fix the KDP, look at the lift solenoid boot, other than that, typical Dodge stuff.

Thanks a lot Pat. Feels good to be back on DTR. Hopefully I can bring this truck home and stay a while.

Good read, thanks for the link. I know about most of the problems, I've had 89CTD and a 01CTD but I was just wondering about specific problems with p7100 12 valve trucks. Not real knowledgable about that particular model. But thanks for the help so far.

If the P.O. has been towing a horse trailer, and he's had the 47RH rebuilt, the question is, WHO REBUILT IT? And with who's parts? Take a good look at the transmisson rebuild receipts and post who's rebuild it is.

I love my '95. Almost 300,000 on it now, with 200,000 on the ATS rebuild that I had done 11 years ago.

That is one nice truck!

If he has been hauling this long, I think any of the warranty for the injection pump would either be done or not a problem with this one. There was a problem with the IPs with warping barrels IIRC and there was a warranty replacement early on. But I wouldn't worry about it.

I have the same mirrors on my 2500 and want to change to the style of later trucks that I can adjust while backing up. I would ditch the Visor also. I have been looking for that same truck and would install a six speed std in it and have just what I want for pulling my fiver. I met a guy that wants to trade trannys for my 47rh, he has a five speed and hates the shifting. I would love the five speed and no more worries pulling my fiver. might trade this winter with him. I will need to find out more about the fifth gear nut and install a good clutch.I do have hopes that this will happen .
