A 518 questions
• Have all forward and reverse working
• TV cable adjusted
• Have full throttle (WOT and idle) travel adjusted
Symptoms:
1-2 feels good, 3-4 seems very close/ almost stacked.
Will go into O/D as early as 30mph
After shutting truck off won't go into overdrive unless I manually press the "O/D off" then press it again.
Is this just how an A518 with these kind of miles usually acts?
Never had one (last one was a 727tf)
Overall I'd like to keep this transmission for as long as I can, and far as I know its original, no modifications. I don't do too much towing and when I do its usually a vehicle (nothing heavy like boats or bulldozers)

OD shift is only controlled by the throttle position sensor. Sounds like the voltage is set a little low. Been a coupla years since I set one. It involves using a paper clip to probe the back side of the weatherpak connector and a voltmeter to check voltage on output side. IIRC around 1.3V. Adjust by turning hex on bottom side of TPS.

Check the TPS voltage, adjust if necessary by rotating the sensor on it's shaft.
If that does not help, check your speedometer signal.

Thanks for the input, fellas
I'm using this link from the sticky to do this...kind of a dumb question but do I set this with the key off, key on or truck running?
(I suspect key on, but electrical stuff isn't my strong suit)
