Unhappy 5 Speed to Auto Trans Swap..... How difficult and $$ ?

I unfortunately sustained and injury to my left leg (clutch leg) and find it quite difficult to engage the truck.

I love my truck to death, but I very well "may" not be able to drive it since it has a 5 speed.

Before I sell it off for an Automatic truck, I need to explore my options.

So how involved is it swapping out the 5 speed to and Automatic. And most importantly, how expensive would it be ?

TIA

I have been researching this for awhile.
You have two options.

1: get a junk truck or all the parts. You will need, tranny, transfercase, driveshafts front and rear, crossmember, steering wheel shaft, computer, and all the electronics, tps and a few other things.

OR

2: Tranny preferably a 48rf, driveshafts, transfercase or at the least the input shaft for a auto. Then you could do a floor shifter with a manual valvebody and 2 toggle switches for you lockup and OD.

If you need more answers call Dusty at HTS transmissions, he will talk your ear off and get you all the parts you need.

Couldn't you also use the standalone controller?

Actually, it would be sweet if it were feasible to just do the new 6 speed, assuming there is a controller out yet.

It would be cool if you lived close to me because I want to buy this truck that is just perfect except it's an auto and now I'm having to look at higher milage 5 speeds . Truck only has 85K miles on it and not a scratch in the bed and it looks like it has never hauled a trailer either. I just want a handshaker!

Man I wish you were closer as well. Im not sure if our parts would interchange between years but im looking to go from auto to manual in my truck. Its got a freshly rebuilt (professionally) trans in it too, just having a hard time finding someone who wants to swap parts.

I live a couple hours north of you but would be interested in doing a swap if you would want. There is a guy in this area that can do the swap and he has a perfect reputation. PM me if you are interested. It would be the 01.
