47rh stays in third for first 5 km when cold?

hey guys, just wondering if this may be an issue or not, on cold days -5c (20F) the truck stays in 3rd (not locked up) for about 5 kms, then shifts into OD and so-on. once i've driven it for these first few minutes its fine for the rest of the day (shifts nice and tight). I'm thinking this may be due to cold transmission fluid, but just want somone elses opinion.

truck is 1994 ram 2500 4x4 auto so 47rh already have a lockup switch. transmission fluid is clean, red, and changed frequently along with the tranny filter.

Its cause the tranny cold. Mine did the same thing. I unplugged the sensor and soldered in a 1ohm resistor and it shifts into od right away now.

ok. perfect, I now know. so smokin flatbed, did you just add a 1ohm resistor into the existing circuit, or did you add the resistor in place of the temperature sensor??

I installed a trans temp gauge and it eliminated the factory sensor in the line. You just cut the plug off and solder it between the two

I thought it was a 1K ohm, resistor. That's what I wired in to bypass the factory temp sensor.

Dodge did this to make engine warm up a little faster and reduce emissions a little sooner. Warm engine emits less emissions than cold one.

just an extra $.02
