47RE and transgo

1998 Dodge Ram 3500 12V 47RE. I am putting in a Transgo shift kit and the instructions and pics are a bit sparse. Not to mention my own mistake of not remembering, but before I put the modified valve body back together I have 2 pieces I just can't remember, One is a small basket type screen about and 1" high and 5/8 round. Obviously a fluid screen, but I can't for the life of me remember where it came from. The other is a small (3/16") stainless check ball or ball bearing. I know where all the other check balls go and all the valves springs etc. Just those 2 pieces.

So, if anyone could help, I would be greatful.

Thank you
TomCs

Call them, Transgo, they gave me great service over the phone. And remember next time the digital camera is your friend.

The screen sits on the transfer plate(largest piece of the valve body) under the separator plate( you'll see the hole it fits through). It's self explanitary when you set it in. The larger ball sets in the larger slot in the upper housing but is 11/32". The only other large ball that I know of rides on the rooster comb. This is on a 47rh but should be the same.

Thank you for the replies. In fact I took many digital pics, but missed that one [redface]

The ball in question is much smaller than the rooster comb detent ball. All the other check balls in the VB are accounted for, that's why this smaller stainless ball is a mystery.

I will look at the suggestion for the screen position this morning.

Thanks again

Just took a longer look at the instructions and transgo supplies a 3/16" ball to be placed in the LR hole for plowing.Sorry I didn't see it this morning.http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeocfdn/s...res/vbody3.jpg

Great info, thank you. Thanks to your help I have the valve body back together. Now I'm just having a little problem getting it back into the transmission case. The manual shift rod will not locate correctly. I did what one manual said and that is to move the manual selector rooster comb) to low and try to install it that way. Still no go. Any suggestions?

Turn the output shaft!!!

The hardest part is usually installing the parking rod and e-clip. Is that what you are refering to? If so I just move the comb so that the top is accessable and use a pair of long needle nose pliers for the clip. You kinda need three hands so I set the pliers up with the clip in them waiting. They make a tool which would make it alot easier.Otherwise it should just slide right up in.I usually lube the oring and seal.

I took the parking rod out w/the valve body, that e clip is a bi*ch to get to. Yes turn the output/drive shaft.

I think I bent the tip of a long screwdriver, filed it down to match the clip, then magnetized it (rub a magnet along it same direction a few times) to get the clip in. Worked 1st shot.
