Power steering/vacuum pump leaking engine oil (kits available to re-seal it fairly inexpensively, Gould Gear). Starter solenoid contacts wearing out (same people sell a kit for it). TPS drive link wears out then causes the tranny to hunt, I welded a little blob on it 75k ago with no problems. They run a very long time, one of mine is close to 400k which is nothing compared to some others on here. The rest of the truck will most likely fall apart around the drivetrain.

I would say that it's worth a couple hours labor to pull the bed and clean the screen/fuel intake.

Yea yea, funny how if you really look close at that you can see the wear and I took a guess and did this too, saved 150$ !

I agree with joem, I am worried a lot more about all the non-Cummings parts on my truck wearing out long before the motor itself does. From door handles to suspension joints, to rust, to unsolvable electrical gremlins.....

A guy pulled up along side me and said I didn't have either brake lights! Oh great... So I get out the Phillips #2 and the electric Ice pick. Look up under the dash after checking the fuses and the plug fell out of the brake light switch on the column? Slid it back in and it fell out again? Think the thing just wore out! A couple wraps of electrical tape and she is good as new.

I love when I see a 12v with 300,000+ on it and think "Man, that things a baby!"
