3/4ton singles rw to duals
3/4ton singles rw to duals
What does it take to convert a 94 2500 from single rear wheel to duals? Is there some kit somebody sells or adapters I can come up with and if so where can I get one? Trying to help a friend out that is looking to convert his truck.
Thx

Is it a 2wd or 4x4? If 4x4 you need the hubs to extend the fronts out to clear the dually wheels. I converted my dually to a single & have the hubs left over from it. The rear you could just install dually wheels on your srw axle. Axle width is a bit wider on the rear and may be a issue when switching a dually to a single wheel. JMO
You would need the hub extension on a 2wd also or you can just run regular wheels in the front seen several duallys this way. On the rear the easist way to go would be to get a dually rear. Im not so sure you could just slap dually wheels on.I believe that studs may be longer on a dually.
heres a thread on this topic i found from dodgefourm.com its for a new truck but it may help a lil.

It is a 4wd. The truck has a flatbed on it and we are trying to get a little more stability out of it since it is being used on the trailer more lately. The plan was just to add duallys to the rear and leave the front alone, just a farm truck so not to picky on this end.

if you read in to that link i posted here some one said that those extension were not a good idea
here is the qoute i was talkin about
The rear axle housing is wider on a dualy.
This is to put the center of the load in the center of the wheel bearings.
If you use a hub addaptor the load will all be carried on the outer wheel bearing and the inner wheel bearing will have a negative load.
see attachment
Net result is that you will be able to carry less wieght with the dwr conversion with an addaptor than you can with a swr.
