Figure it out?
My 97 is doing the same thong. Have a dnr tps delete on it which fixed my OD problem. But it hunts horribly between 50-60. Or won't shift to 4 till rpms are almost to 3k

Shot in the dark: The OD shift button on the steering column needs occasional maintenance. Remove the button housing and polish the contacts, clean out the carbon and dirt. Be sure the button spring is not slack which could cause intermittent shifting.
