2wd Front Hub Assemblies

I reckon I'll need new wheel bearings soon (like in a few days) and I've never done 2wd only 4wd's. I've been looking for assemblies and don't see much for 2wd's. The ones I am finding don't have the studs in them. Every 4wd I ever bought had the studs in them. I guess this is some new marketing practice to separate my hard earned coin from my wafer thin wallet. Any advice on doing this? I figure it's the same as the 4wd except for pulling the studs out of the old assembly and re using them (yeh I'm that cheap)?

Guess I am confused, don't the normal 2WD's have timken cone bearings like a normal truck?

Does your 2WD have a solid front axle ( C&C configuration ) ?

I've only ever done my 2wd truck but it wasn't bad. Couple of nuts and the whole assembly popped off (after much persuasion). Only two bearings on each hub from the auto parts store about $20 and I was back in business. No need to worry about studs as they stay on the entire hub assembly which slides off as a solid piece.

If your replacing just the bearing then you should probably also have a new race pressed into the hub. Either the inner or the outer race is replaceable - I can't remember which. IIR Autozone had USA Timkens.

Tapered roller bearings and races. No sealed assemblies like the 4 wd trucks.

Pull the little silver inspection cap and find the castlelated nut held in place with a cotter pin. All sealed on the back side with a replaceable seal.

Then we have to assume you have a cab and chassis truck with a solid ( single beam ) front axle?

In that case you use a standard 4WD hub assy.
