12valve vs 24valve
12valve vs 24valve
Hi guys. newbe here.
I thinking about selling my Ford and buying a Dodge CTD.
I tow aprox 11, 000 to 12,000 lbs. Camping use only not a buissness. One grade @ 7% and a lot of hills. Trying to learn all i can and which truck would best suit me and keep cost effective.
Is their much difference between the 12v and 24v? I want a truck that will maintain 60 mph easly while towing, is this possible?
All comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks..............

12v, cheaper, reliable, and TONS of power to be had.
60 is no problem with the right set-up or gears.
24v's love the higher RPM's though, so if hill climbing is what you want, most 24v's will do it stock, where a 12v drives like a semi, low end power. They can be made to run great on the top end, but you will lose some bottom end.
It all up to you, the guys on this site will explain the rest.

If you want the most reliable, longest lived and fuel efficient engine that has ever been put in a production vehicle get a 12 valve. Just go over to the 24 valve forum here and see all the problems those guys have.
