12V tranny shift wierd//Upgrade questions for Newbie

My dad has a 96 12V and when he is pulling a trailer in drive, the transmission will want to shift down too far if you press on the gas too hard. Any ideas on the problem? Also---He wants to add some power upgrades to it. He asked me and all I had to say is, I dont have any idea about the 12V, Im a 24V man! He wants to spend around $800 for upgrades.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the tranny but for horsepower upgrades a #10 plate would probably be a good plate if he pulls alot. Depending on how much more power he wants he could also install a set of 370's. Then if he had EGT problems while towing he could install a valet switch. Also either a three or four Gsk(Govener Spring Kit) would help alot.

Try locking out OD - that will put it in 3rd with the TC locked up. Then when he does not need to go heavy on the throttle he can go back into OD.

The TPS might be too sensitive and need adjustment or replacement
