12V 53 Block

Anyone ever heard of a 53 block in a 12V? Just curious. I cant see the casting number on the side of my engine due to all the components being there in the way. How can I get the block casting number?

I know 7 guys with 98 12v and all plus mine have the 53 block, all trucks have over 300,000km and no problems. Look under the injection pump near the block and oil pan seam.

Bill;
"53" block has been found in late 97 and 98 12 valves through 01 24 valves.

Kind of the KDP problem that was fixed by the 98 model that had appeared as high as 2000 engines.

edit
Fixed the date

I went back and fixed the date. I got my self all tangled when I decided to add the KDP thing and that's too many numbers to keep straight on a Friday night.

The good thing about a 12v 53 block is they're not the same casting as the 24v #53, so chances are they are not afflicted with the same thin casting weakness.
