12 valve rebuild?

Hey guys this is my first post on this forum. I just bought a 94 12 valve with about 200,000 on it that I plan on tuning up and dropping it into a different truck. I would like this engine to run like new as well as have additional integrity for future upgrades.

What should I do as far as restoration/ rebuilding to the engine before it gets mounted into a new vehicle?

Thanks

Dave

Just did exactly what your thinking of, only my engine probably had 260,000 miles on it.

I full rebuild is probably not necessary, but depending on how much $$ you have to spend you may or may not want to spend the extra $$.

I would at the very minimum check the bearings and plan on putting a new set in, I put in new rod bolts when I did mine. Also check everything you possibly can out, if you take the head off at least check the cylinder wear, you probably will have a hard time measuring any, my only had about .0005" wear on the bore.

If you don't rebuild it, I do recommend at least putting all new gaskets and seals in. Alot easier to get to when its out now rather than later.

I have about $3500 in mine, I tore mine down to a bare block and had the block, crank, and head checked out. New bearings, rod bolts, piston rings, gasket set, new cam with new lifters, pump was calibrated by columbus diesel, redid the head myself, and some other little misc do-dads.
